Chalais is situated at the top of a hill, overlooking the valley of La Tude and the magnificent Chβteau de Tallyerand, in southern Charente, on the border with Dordogne, close to the Gironde and Charente-Maritime departments. This small town offers all amenities. 2 minutes away is the Domaine du Grand Tourtre, an 18th Century fortified hamlet turned into a high quality holiday village. It is set within vast private and enclosed grounds, surrounded by vineyards, woodland and sunflower fields. The renovated barns and the villas surround a central square, giving the domain a village atmosphere. Here, the renovated bread oven is the central point from where many cultural and sports activities are on offer.
