Location
In the heart of the Argens valley, the authentic Provencal village of Les Arcs is only 7 km from Draguignan, 20 km from the Mediterranean coast, the gulf of St Tropez, Frιjus, St Raphaλl, St Aygulf and Ste Maxime with great beaches and bustling night street markets. The region is made of rocky hilltops with their perched villages and lovely authentic French villages with great restaurants, high plains with lavender fields, and the lower green forests and terraced olive groves. To the north the Gorges du Verdon for spectacular scenery and lakes, many watersports and activities are just 30 km away. Also 3 km from Le Muy, an hours drive from Toulon, Hyθres or Nice-Cτte dAzur airports.
Environment : In a peaceful and green setting, 3 km from shops. Great local markets. Beautiful wine growing region with many renowned vineyards locally to visit. Close to Lorgues and the reputed Chez Bruno Michelin awarded restaurant.
PLACES TO VISIT:
Draguignan. 7 km. Pleasant town once a military centre but now with tourist and cultural attractions. Lovely avenues lined with plane trees surround the old city. Excellent shopping and markets. Several museums.
Flayosc. 15 km. Pretty town with typical Provencal streets and great views from the church out across the vineyards.
Lorgues. 15 km . Small and very pleasant medieval town with a maze of old streets, open squares and fountains, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.
Frιjus. 25 km. Seaside resort, ancient military port and Roman city, with a rich and impressive historical and architectural heritage. Some stunning scattered Roman remains can still be seen including one of the largest amphitheatres from Gallic times and a Roman theatre still in use for summer events.
THINGS TO DO:
Le Jardin de Cιsar et Lιonie, Le Muy. 10 km. Horse riding, Tree top adventure park. For great thrills in all security, up to 12m in height. Different trails for all abilities and ages and a lovely way to discover the forest. Also pony and horse rides available. At Les Folies de Lιonie, there is free access to a giant playground under parents supervision.
Provence Aventure, Vidauban. 12 km. Tree top adventure park. A beautiful setting, in the heart of an oak forest, on the banks of the Argens River. Different trails for the whole family (from the age of 3) according to ages and abilities including for the fearless ones a 200m-long zip line crossing the Argens river. A refreshing experience!
Golf de St Endrιol, La Motte. 12 km. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 6219m. In a stunning, sun-drenched natural setting, a spectacular and internationally renowned course offering splendid views over the river Endre.
Aoubrι - L`Aventure Nature, Flassans-sur-Issole. 30 km. Tree top adventure park. A park for the whole family with trails adapted for all ages and abilities. In total, 7 different trails offering 105 workshops. Also do not miss the visit of the small farm with large enclosures. Allow the whole day to make the most of it.
FURTHER AFIELD:
Salernes. 25 km. Medieval town built around its castle, in a picturesque setting in the valley of the Bresque river. Best known for its tradition of tile making, especially for the trademark terracotta hexagonal floor tiles of Provence.
Ste Maxime. 30 km. Fashionable and elegant seaside resort with old cobbled streets, designer boutiques, excellent restaurants, colourful port and a choice of beautiful sandy beaches. Boats across the bay to St Tropez.
Aups. 35 km. Pretty Provencal hill top village overlooked by the remains of its medieval castle. Its weekly markets are famous including its winter truffle markets.
St Tropez. 45 km. Authentic fishing village but also trendy and glamorous seaside resort and favourite holiday spot for the rich and famous. Fantastic night life, exquisite restaurants, chic boutiques, delightful old quarters, glorious beaches including the famous 5 km-long Plage de Pampelonne.
