Location Situated in southern Brittany, on the Finistere border, 20 km north of the bustling naval port and university town of Lorient and 25 km from the beach. Charming market town situated at the confluence of the Isole and Ellι rivers that combine to form the Laοta river. Its historic quarter is filled with pretty winding cobbled streets and quaint half-timbered houses. Pontivy. 35 km. Quaint market town with both a Napoleonic and medieval quarter overlooked by its fabulous 15th century moated castle. Situated on the banks of the Nantes to Brest Canal, it has a lovely atmosphere and boasts a large variety of restaurants and bars. Dont miss the market every Monday morning! Auray. 45 km. Charming little town with beautiful old quarter with delightful 15th and 16th century houses. Nearby Ste Anne dAuray is Brittanys most important place of pilgrimage drawing thousands of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world all year round but especially on July 26th for its Pardon de Ste Anne which was attended by Pope John Paul II in 1996.

Made famous by Gauguin when he came to paint in the 1880s before leaving for Tahiti and inspired the Pont Aven school.
