Location
In the charming village of Marcillac Saint Quentin and situated in one of the most desirable areas of the Dordogne valley, just a few km from the attractive medieval town of Sarlat, capital of the Black Pιrigord. The old centre of Sarlat boasts many cultural heritage listed buildings and it is a delight to wander through its cobbled streets and alleyways. A perfect base to discover the many historic and pre historic sites the area has to offer, including the world famous site of Lascaux which is within easy reach. From cave dwellings to fairy tale castles, the views and scenery are breathtaking.

PLACES TO VISIT:
Sarlat. 10 km. Beautiful, well restored town with old quarters dating from both medieval and renaissance times, with a maze of narrow medieval cobbled streets to explore.
Montignac. 15 km. Pretty village on the Vιzθre River most famous for being home to the Lascaux Caves.
Les Eyzies. 20 km. Home to the world’s most beautiful caves, some with outstanding crystallisations as well as stunning cliffs and rock formations. Cromagnon man was discovered here at the end of the 19th century. Nearby Fond de Gaume is one of the last prehistoric cave-painting sites that is still open to the public. The National Prehistory Museum which houses one of the world’s most complete collections of prehistoric artifacts is also found in Les Eyzies.
La Roque Gageac. 25 km. One of the “Most beautiful villages in France” and very popular with tourists, with little more than a row of riverside houses squeezed between the Dordogne river and sheltered below the overhanging cliffs behind. A truly `picture postcard` village.

THINGS TO DO:
Grotte de Lascaux. 15 km. World famous caves boasting paintings estimated to be from around 19,000 years ago. Open to the public after WWII but closed in 1963 because the paintings were being damaged by the carbon dioxide produced by thousands of visitors. The current site is a replica situated 200m from the original site.
Prehisto Parc, Les Eyzies. 20 km. No trip to the Vezere valley would be complete without the children playing at being prehistoric. Cavemen, mammoths and the like are recreated for your children`s endless amusement.
Airparc Perigord, St Vincent de Cosse. 25 km. Tree top adventure. Situated on an island on the Dordogne River, with several rope bridges and zip lines over the water! Thrills guaranteed ...
Le Village du Bournat, Le Bugue. 30 km. A very popular attraction for families with a reconstructed village showing life in 1900. With animals on a working organic farm, crafts and a working windmill (which makes flour for the local bakers). There is also a funfair (included in the entrance price), picnic areas and restaurants.

FURTHER AFIELD:
Terrasson. 30 km. Attractive town on the banks of the Vιzθre River and renowned for its stunning “Jardins de l`Imaginaire”, award winning gardens planted on a steep hill.
Belvθs. 40 km. Lively and attractive Bastide town, known as the `town of seven bell towers`, with well preserved medieval features and an interesting 15th century covered market.
Tremolat. 45 km. The large sweeping bend of the River Dordogne, so-called the `Cingle to Tremolat` is what attracts visitors, rather than the village itself. The views from the Belvedere de Tremolat are magnificent and the 180 degree view across the enormous bend in the Dordogne River is astonishing.
Monpazier. 55 km. One of the most stunning of the Bastide towns in the region with fantastically preserved medieval centre and boasting no less than 30 buildings designated as national monuments.
